Binder Questions
How does For Them Sizing Work?
We do sizing a little differently here at For Them. We don't like to use toxic sizing standards and have instead named our sizes A (Amethyst) through K (Kindred). We also don't use "bra" sizing for our binder products, so your 34C won't matter much here. Instead, we need to get the apex measurement of the fullest part of your chest in inches. This should be captured using a measuring tape while your chest is bare or not in a supportive garment.
The same goes for our Underwear products, which range in size from I to VIII.
We understand this isn't how you're used to shopping, so each product has a size chart to help you understand how your apex measurement (in inches) maps to our custom-named sizes.
If you do not own a soft measuring tape, we suggest trying to buy one at your local pharmacy/convenience story for less than $5 but if you're unable and you have a hard ruler, you can use a charging chord/power cable, scarf, ribbon, or other long string-type item to measure the apex and then measure the length on the hard ruler!
How do I know that The Binder fits correctly?
Great question! If you are new to binding, (or new to finding a binder that fits you right) it may be hard to tell how it is supposed to feel. Here's a little checklist to make sure you've got the right size:
- My Binder feels snug on my skin and evenly compresses.
- My Binder is not pinching, digging or rubbing.
- My Binder covers my whole chest without riding up.
- I can breathe easily in my binder.

How do I measure myself for The Binder?
We try and make it super easy and free of gendered language. We only ask for the fullest measurement around your chest. Here is a short video of how to do that. Once you have your apex measurement, use our Size Finder to identify the best fit for you.
P.S You can measure yourself over bare skin, or a loose fitting, relaxed t-shirt.
What is the fabric?
A silky smooth recycled nylon, as buttery soft as you could imagine. It's sturdy yet flexible...not to mention environmentally friendly (AF).
Do your binders work for people with larger frames and chest sizes?
Absolutely! Our binders are for every single body that binds (or wants to start!). The sizing runs from 28in through 62in and our products are fit-tested on bodies that sit at all points of that range. It is a priority of ours to serve all bodies that bind. Want some examples? In response to feedback that folks needed more coverage, we made the Binder MAX, which is longer and has higher neck lines. If The Binder doesn't provide the coverage you were hoping for, consider purchasing the Binder MAX.
My size and/or color are out of stock on your website. When will they be back in stock?
Whenever we have an update in production, we communicate via social media and emails. Make sure you're subscribed to For Them emails and following us on Instagram to stay up to date on new product launches, restocks, and more!
How many hours a day can I wear For Them binders?
Firstly, no one knows your body as well as you do. In regards to binding (and everything else in life) listen to your body and trust your intuition.
The Binder: We have designed The Binder to be safe to wear every single day for several hours at a time!
The Binder MAX: The Binder MAX was designed to provide more compression, so we recommend 8 maximum hours of wear.
The Jock Top: Our sports bra is safe to wear all day, every day. Be sure to take breaks while active.

How do I wash For Them binders?
Our binders love to be hand-washed. Use cold water and a little bit of soap. Dry flat to help it maintain its shape and it'll be happy for a long time. If you notice that it has started to loosen its shape or fit, throw it in for a machine wash on cold and it'll be good as new.
My binder isn't compressing at all. Does it not work?
Our binders are designed for safe, comfortable all-day wear, and as a result, they will not make your chest flat. However, if you're not experiencing any compressing, it's very possible that you have the wrong size. If you're looking to achieve more compression, consider purchasing our Binder MAX.
I already have The Binder but would like to purchase the Binder MAX. Do I buy the same size?
We designed the Binder MAX to correspond with sizing for The Binder. That being said, if you are newer to binding or are not used to a high-compression bind, you may want to go up one size.
Membership Questions
Which membership levels come with gifts?
All Annual Level Memberships come with free gifts. The only exception is AF+ All-Access Quarterly members qualify for a free copy of the print magazine.
I bought an AF+ Membership but have not yet created an account
New members must first create a new account with their email address to start accessing and enjoying their perks. To do this, visit either www.autostraddle.com or www.forthem.com and find the SIGN IN button towards the top right hand corner of the page. On the SIGN IN screen, click CREATE NEW ACCOUNT and enter in the email address used to purchase your membership. Create a password, and then finish registration. You’ll then be redirected to sign in with your new credentials.
How do I read content on Autostraddle.com?
Head to www.autostraddle.com and log-in on the top right-hand corner using the email address associated with your membership. If you have not created an account after purchasing, you will need to before accessing any articles.
Can I use the same account I use for the Binder shopping app?

Does my membership come with a discount?
AF+ All-Access and Support memberships come with a 30% off discount. AF Media members do not receive product discounts.
How do I update my profile or payment info?
Log in to your membership using www.autostraddle.com or www.forthem.com and go to the YOUR ACCOUNT section.
How do I change the name that appears when I comment on Autostraddle?
Log in to your membership using www.autostraddle.com or www.forthem.com and go to the YOUR ACCOUNT section.
Can I still access For Them Products and Autostraddle content if I cancel my membership?
Only until the expiration of your recent billing period. After your renewal date passes, you will lose access to your membership benefits.
How do I upgrade/downgrade my membership?
To upgrade or downgrade your membership, please visit www.forthem.com or www.autostraddle.com either while signed in or and sign in when prompted. Once logged in, you'll find your membership area in the top right-hand corner of the page. Once you’re in the Member Portal, you can manage your subscription on the home page or the “Your account” page.
I’m a legacy member and cannot find where or how to manage my membership
To manage your membership as a legacy member, please email team@forthem.com with your request (e.g. “Cancel my membership” or “Assist me in upgrading my membership”) and one of our team members will be in touch within 48 hours.
I’m not seeing my AF+ Membership discount applied on my order
Note: the only AF+ Members who receive a 30% discount on all orders are AF+ All Access and AF+ Support Members. AF+ Media Members do not receive product perks.
First, make sure you’re logged in to your membership using the email address that you used to purchase the membership.
Second, make sure you’re either an AF+ All Access or AF+ Support member.
Once you’ve done the above, please continue all the way through the checkout process until it’s time to add payment method and checkout. See if the discount is applied on the checkout page where your total is calculated. If it’s still not reflecting your discount, please reach out to team@forthem.com.
I’m an AF+ Member but I cannot read the AF+ content on Autostraddle.com
First, make sure you’re logged in to your membership using the email address that you used to purchase the membership. Double check that you’re using the correct email address, especially if you’re a long-time member/use a different email address for your billing.
If you still have trouble, your membership may not be currently active. Let us know any email addresses that could be associated with your membership and we’ll look into it for you.
Underwear Questions
What are For Them Underwear products made of?
Organic cotton, bamboo, and recycled nylon.
Can I pack in any of the For Them Underwear products?
The only underwear style with a purposeful packing pouch is the Trad Boxer. You may pack in any other style at your own discretion.
Can I tuck in any of the For Them Underwear products?
The only underwear style with a purposeful tucking channel is the Tucking Tanga. You may tuck in any other style at your discretion.
How do I wash For Them Underwear products?
Wash with the rest of your clothes in the machine but avoid heat for long term care. We advise air drying flat.
Shipping & Delivery
How do I get updates on my order?
You will receive email notifications pertaining to the confirmation, shipping, and delivery of your order.
How long will it take for me to receive my order?
This is entirely dependent on your location and the assigned carrier. Most domestic orders are received within 1 week of order placement while international orders can be expected to arrive within 2 weeks.
Is the packaging discreet?
Yes, our packaging is always discreet and the label only features our abbreviated "FT" logo.
Do you ship orders to the UK & EU? If so, how will orders be shipped?
Yes, we ship internationally. All international orders are shipped via Passport and local delivery services are assigned upon arrival in your destination country. You can track your international order via the link emailed to you.
I received the wrong shipment and/or I was charged twice. What should I do?
If anything looks funky upon arrival or on your bank statement, please email team@forthem.com with as much information as possible.
Returns & Exchanges
What is your return policy?
We offer free exchanges and returns within 21 days from the delivered date for eligible items. As a small US based business, we sadly cannot facilitate international exchanges or returns, therefore international orders are final sale. Reach out to the team (team@forthem.com) if you're unsure about your size, we'd be happy to help!
Eligibility by item:
The Binder All-Day and The Binder MAX: It might take a few days to know if The Binder is working for you. If you don't love it, return it for any reason within 21 days of delivered date. We'll cover shipping costs. Your return must include the hang tag and dust bag that your order came with.
Subscriptions: If you cancel your monthly or quarterly membership, you will stop being charged but will not get money back from months you've previously paid for. You'll continue to have access until the end of your last payment period. If you cancel an annual membership, you can use the membership for the remainder of the year that you purchased. Customers agree to recurring payments until their subscription is cancelled, which takes place in the "Your Account" section while logged in to www.forthem.com or www.autostraddle.com. Subscriptions cannot be returned.
Underwear: Please note that Underwear products are FINAL SALE and not eligible for returns or exchanges. If you have questions or concerns about an order containing Underwear products, please contact team@forthem.com.
Hats: Please note that Underwear products are FINAL SALE and not eligible for returns or exchanges. If you have questions or concerns about an order containing Hat products, please contact team@forthem.com.
All other products: Unused items are eligible for return or exchange. If you don't love it, return it for any reason within 30 days of delivered date. We'll cover shipping costs. Unfortunately, used and/or damaged items are not eligible for returns or exchanges.
Refunds
Refunds are processed within 2-3 business days of receiving the returned item. You will receive the funds back to the original payment method used. Refunds for returned items do not include your original shipping fee.
